To make the region more prosperous we had to:
- Help large businesses maintain their competitiveness on a global scale. In Atlantic Canada, we tend to see the biggest employers through a harsh lens. What we fail to realize is the very fact that they keep their knowledge jobs here in the region is critical to the region’s prosperity. Leaders in our largest companies fight the very real reality of being the biggest fish in a small pond regionally and only a small fish in a much bigger pond globally.
- Help small and medium sized businesses grow. 80% of all jobs created in the private sector come from the 20% of SME’s going through growth. Profitable growth is more complicated and chaotic than most can imagine. Helping a passionate technician transition to a growth minded business owner is the single most important step in a healthy economy.
- Help government create more value with less. You would be hard pressed to find a group of more passionate and dedicated leaders than those responsible for guiding the public services. Working with this passionate group to make it run faster, better, with less resources is critical.
Over the course of our first year and a half, we were able to lay the foundation of a business that was ready to and had helped all three markets.
By the end of our first year in business it became clear that we could not simply train others to improve, innovate, and grow. Symplicity needed to grow.
We now have more than 26 colleagues who have joined our team in pursuit of making the world a better place, one organization at a time starting in Atlantic Canada. The photos you see of our people are not contractors, they are full time colleagues. Every day we get the honour of helping organizations tackle their biggest problems, challenges, and opportunities.
Our story is still being written and as Rory Vaden poignantly said “Success is never owned, it is rented and that rent is due every day.”
Over the past 4+ years we have worked with more than 300 organizations ranging from a micro business of two people to a Fortune 500 company with a foothold in Atlantic Canada to the department of education. We have completed more than 10 full transformations (usually 12-24 months) and we would be delighted to visit any one of them with you. We are a proud member of the B-Corp and 1% for the planet Communities, signifying our commitment to a triple bottom line of people, planet, and profit.
We are learning every day how to be a better versions of ourselves individually and as an organization. We aspire to be the engine of growth and the voice of prosperity. It is a North Star worth chasing.
